Mjøsmuseet

Mjøsmuseet is a museum of cultural history with departments in Gjøvik, Toten and Minnesund. The museums are open during summer. Guided tours during open hours and by appointment. The museum grounds are open year-round (admission free). Mjøsmuseet has extensive archive, artefact and photo collections. Genealogy resources are available year-round, but we suggest you make an appointment.

 

Gjøvik gård: Historical farm estate in the centre of Gjøvik. The main building dates back to 1810, and is surrounded by a beautiful park. Various exhibits, cafe and playground. Open-air concerts Saturdays during summer.

Eiktunet, Gjøvik: This open-air museum provides a magnificent view of the city of Gjøvik. The museum contains buildings from the period 1650-1850. The grounds are open year-round. Family events during summer.

Stenberg Open-Air Museum, Bøverbru: In former times the home of the local county governor, this farm estate features an extensive English-style park set in a 19th century cultural landscape.

June 5th - August 21th: Sunday 12.00-16.00. July: Wednesdays 14.00-18.00.

Peder Balke Centre, Kapp: Main building with wall paintings by Peder Balke and exhibits during summer. Garden, café and gift shop.

Mjøssamlingene at Minnesund: Lake Mjøsas maritime museum features exhibits on flood history, timber floating and boating.
